New IVECO T-Ways help ESM Resources’ fleet expansion
In tier one mining operations and on major civil infrastructure projects, productivity is king – downtime caused by machinery breakdowns can cost tens of thousands of dollars a day, making the job of service trucks vitally important.
No one knows this better than suppliers to these industries including WA’s ESM Resources. As a mobile plant hire and maintenance specialist, the company services a range of mining companies along with contractors and civil operators across the state.
Operations Manager, Shannon Pearce, said that since beginning in 2015, the company has established a strong reputation in the sector thanks to its relationship-driven ethos and genuine commitment to the projects and people it supports.
“ESM Resources is built on relationships. We take the time to fully understand our clients’ operational requirements so we can deliver practical, cost-effective solutions, not just equipment,” Shannon explained.
“We exist to be more than a hire company. We’re a trusted team delivering turnkey dry hire solutions supported by maintenance expertise and responsive service.”
The company’s relationship with IVECO – particularly, the T-Way range – began in 2024 with T-Way water carts, before ESM Resources again looked at the model for service truck applications.
“We were attracted to IVECO’s reputation for durability and its suitability for heavy-duty off-road work. The T-Way 6x6 platform offered the right balance of power and mine-site capability,” Shannon said.
“The off-road capabilities to access the remote locations and into mining surrounds were essential.
“The T-Way looked like a good option that could meet the demands of remote WA operations while remaining reliable and cost-effective over the long term.”
Engineered to meet the demands of gruelling off-road applications, the IVECO T-Way 6x6 AD380 features triple differential locks for superior traction in slippery conditions, low range transfer case and front and rear parabolic suspension that provides excellent articulation over severe terrain.
Powering the model is an advanced Euro 6 (Step E) engine that produces 450hp and 2,200Nm of torque, with power fed to the wheels via the Hi-Tronix 16-speed Automated Manual Transmission.
The driveline combination easily handles the vehicle’s 32,000kg and 60,000kg GCM while providing a comfortable and easy to use driving environment for long work days.
ESM Resources’ newest T-Way is fitted with an AES 7000 service body which features all the tools and equipment for remote servicing including a variety of on-board pumps and compressors, and tanks for water, diesel, oils, grease, coolants and more.
Now several months into the job as part of a long-term hire contract in the Pilbara, Shannon said the T-Way is receiving plaudits from its operators.
“Feedback has been extremely positive. Operators appreciate the power, stability and comfort of the T-Way platform, while our clients value the reliability and reduced downtime the unit is helping deliver,” he said.
According to Shannon, while the T-Way 6x6 was acquired primarily as part of a fleet expansion program to meet increasing demand, he said ESM Resources is also committed to investing in modern, compliant and high performing equipment.
“At ESM Resources, investing in quality equipment is part of our commitment to delivering reliable solutions to our clients. Partnering with manufacturers like IVECO ensures we can confidently support some of Australia’s most demanding mining and civil projects,” he said.
“If the T-Ways continue to perform as expected, we would certainly consider further investment in these trucks.”
