Bendix Brakes into Brisbane Truck Show

Bendix will display its extensive range of commercial vehicle friction products at this year’s Brisbane Truck Show, including disc brake pads, brake shoes and brake linings from its ProTrans™ and ProTrans™HD ranges.

Also on display will be the company’s Ultimate 4WD™Electric Park Brake kits for light commercial 4x4 vehicles.

Bendix ProTrans™ Disc Pad range feature advanced surface technology leading to high temperature resistance and reduced wear rates, which all contribute to high-performance braking while reducing running costs. Bendix pads provide a strong, predictable friction level regardless of the temperature, speed or axle load. And with their titanium bedding-in technology, drivers enjoy a positive pedal feel right from new.

The range also meets ECE Regulation 90 (ECE-R90). This measure specifies the design, construction, performance requirements and test protocols for strict European regulations; this includes testing for braking capabilities, speed sensitivity, cold performance and other parameters. A further advantage is reduced brake noise, while workshops will also appreciate the easy installation aspects of the product.

Also on show will be brake shoe kits and special heavy-duty ProTrans™ HD Disc Pads for trucks working in extreme applications such as refuse collection.

Locally tested using unique Bendix truck dyno

Bendix’s commercial vehicle range was developed using Bendix’s unique to Australia truck brake dynamometer. The machine is used to test new friction materials and to conduct compliance, performance and brake wear trials. It’s capable of testing the braking requirements of most large road-going vehicles, from oversized four-wheel-drives to road-train prime movers – it can even simulate axle loads of up to 20 tonnes.

Other features of the dynamometer include an adjustable air-cooling system to replicate the airflow of real-world operating conditions.

Electric Park Brakes for 4X4 LCVs

Bendix will also showcase its Electric Secondary Park Brake for Land Cruiser 76,78 and 79 Series which boosts safety and holding ability in these vehicles. Launched in 2023, the system has become a must-have OH&S upgrade especially for vehicles used on mine sites.

The kit offers the convenience of complete ‘bolt-on’ fitment and complements the existing OE park brake, with no change to the vehicle’s hydraulic mechanism, pad shape and original park brake required. It features rear left and right single piston calipers that act on the rear disc brake rotors, minimising the likelihood of ‘roll aways’.

Fitting the EPB is simple for a mechanic or brake technician with detailed installation guidelines provided. As a bonus, the vehicle’s ADR compliance is maintained and requires no engineering sign-off once the job is complete.

Bendix also has similar kits available for N80 (2015 – onwards) 4x4 Hilux models with the added benefit of a Drum-to-Disc conversion, which upgrades the OE drum brake set-up, to 312mm diameter Bendix Disc Brake Rotors.

Expert advice

The Bendix stand will be staffed by product experts who will be available to explain the features and benefits of the Bendix range in more detail and offer product advice for owner drivers, major fleets, or anyone in between.
