Fuso Shogun gets connected with advanced telematics system

The heavy-duty Fuso Shogun now comes with advanced telematics to help customers get the most out of their trucks.

Fuso has launched its comprehensive Fuso Connect system, which is now standard on Shogun models and includes a free 12-month subscription.

The locally-installed system allows for a fleet administrator or operator to access important information such as vehicle location, driver behaviour, engine status and much more around the clock.

The information can be accessed on desktop as well as mobile devices using iOS or Android platforms.

Vehicle performance can be closely monitored with fuel efficiency reports, while a driver scorecard can also be generated to encourage high driving performance. Over-speeding, over-revving, harsh braking and excessive idle time can also be monitored and reported in real time.

Customers can track and trace trucks in real time and set geo-fences to send an alert when a vehicle enters or exits a specified area. Fleet administrators can also be alerted to vehicle impacts and rollovers. Vehicle maintenance status is also visible.

Fuso Truck and Bus Australia Vice President, Alex Müller, says the Fuso Connect system was introduced to enhance customer service.

“We are very excited to bring our customers an advanced telematics system for the popular heavy-duty Shogun model,” he says.

“Fuso Connect will empower our customers with real-time insights, increased operational efficiency and enhanced safety measures and we know it will be a popular introduction.”

The family-owned organisation, headed up by David Warren, currently operates Daimler Trucks Albury and Daimler Trucks Wagga Wagga, delivering outstanding customer service.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, says he is excited that Tristar Truck and Bus will soon cover two additional regions.

“Our Albury and Wagga Wagga customers give us so much positive feedback about how David and his team go out of their way to keep them moving,” Mr Whitehead says.

“We are delighted that David and his team will be able to bring this kind of customer support to our Daimler Truck customers in these critical areas of Shepparton and the ACT,” he concludes.

Mr Warren says the team at Tristar Truck and Bus is looking forward to opening the two new locations.

“We are really excited about serving Daimler Truck customers of the greater Shepparton region and the Australian Capital Territory,” he says.

“They are both really important freight regions and we are determined to introduce the excellent customer service that we strive to deliver every day at our Albury and Wagga Wagga locations.”

Daimler Trucks Albury represents a remarkable success story, having thrived since the team took hold of the reins in April 2020, along with the Daimler Trucks Wagga Wagga dealership.

More information regarding the new Daimler Truck dealerships in Shepparton and the ACT will be provided at a later date.

FIRST ZERO EMISSION CAPRAL ALUMINIUM DELIVERIES WITH GOLDSTAR TRANSPORT FUSO eCANTER

Capral Aluminium recently made its first zero emission deliveries thanks to freight partner Goldstar Transport.

Perth-based Goldstar delivered Capral Aluminium products to local customer Bull Motor Bodies, which was excited to receive its first zero emission deliveries. The truck used was a Fuso eCanter, a battery electric vehicle that operates near-silently and produces zero local emissions.

Capral Aluminium is the largest manufacturer extruder and distributor of aluminium products in Australia and has just introduced a low a lower-carbon primary aluminium option available across its locally manufactured extruded aluminium products called LocAL.

Bull Motor Bodies says it appreciates the opportunity to start receiving Capral Aluminium delivered by an electric truck.

“Sustainability is very much at the forefront at Bull Motor Bodies,” says the company’s General Manager, Simon Rawnsley. “A part of the tendering process for large corporate fleets around Australia is that fact that we are working towards net zero as an organisation, so it is important to have things like this as part of our supply chain.”

Capral Aluminium Industrial Solutions State Manager for Western Australia, Nigel Williamson, says the company was pleased to kick start zero emissions deliveries with the Bull Motor Bodies order.

“It is important for the environment. It is in-line with our Capral initiative to reduce emissions and it represents a positive step forward,” he said.

Goldstar Transport Managing Director, Sean Carren, says he is delighted to help customers along their emission reduction journeys.

“Goldstar Transport is really excited to have the zero emission Fuso eCanter as part of the fleet and work with companies like Capral who really want to make a difference. We are committed to lead when it comes to zero emission transport and are working towards introducing larger zero emission trucks with our partners at Daimler Trucks, who share our vision.”

The Fuso eCanter was the first electric truck in Australia with advanced active safety features that many of its rivals miss out on. It comes standard with Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with pedestrian detection and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), features that are increasingly important for leading companies and government bodies with a firm focus on health and safety.

Fuso was the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to introduce an electric truck in Australia when the eCanter was launched locally in 2021. It has proven itself in the field, working for several leading fleets with backing from the vast Daimler Truck Australia dealership network.

Goldstar Transport, which employs 400 people and has a fleet of more than 150 trucks, welcomed the first eCanter to its fleet late last year and is preparing to add large electric trucks to its fleet in the near future.
